Commercial Garbage Collection:
Central Business District

To reduce the amount of truck traffic in the downtown area, Solid Waste Services manages a commercial garbage contract for businesses that are located in the area outlined in blue on the map below:

City blocks adjacent to Sixth Street (East) between Congress Avenue and IH-35, City blocks adjacent to Congress Avenue between Cesar Chavez and 11th St., City blocks adjacent to West 5th St. between Guadalupe and Colorado, The city block south of W. 4th St. between Lavaca St. and Colorado, The city block south of East 5th St. between San Jacinto Blvd and Trinity, The city block north of E 7th St. between Neches St. and Red River St.

Waste Management is the current garbage and recycling hauler.

The monthly rate includes the following:

Base Rate: $7.00
Volume Charge: $9.50 per cubic yard per week
Central Business District Special Cleaning Service: $16.00

In addition, all businesses within the City of Austin pay a $4.55 anti-litter fee as part of the Solid Waste Services portion of their utility bill.
